ALLISON CARMICHAEL is an English artist who now lives and paints in France, in the village of Couiza near Espéraza.  She is a graduate of Goldsmiths College, London and has worked mostly on commission and is now moving away from 'painting to order' and into her own oeuvre. 

She is a colourist, using rich, bold and vibrant colours to capture her subjects and bring her paintings to life. Her work is inspired by both the beauty and variety of Southern France and the beauty and variety of the human form.  Her landscape paintings capture the warmth and vitality of Southern France, with its unique vibrancy of colour.

Allison's portraits and figurative paintings are influenced by angels, lightness and humour - the things that shine out of people when they play.  Her paintings depict the fairy, angel, madonna or pan that she believes is hidden within everyone.
