TCHOUKI studied sumi-e, Japanese brush painting, with Koho Yamamoto, as well as Japanese watercolor, in New York for five years. She has been teaching sumi-e in Majorca and in France as well as exhibiting paintings, for the past 12 years.

"Sumi" means ink in Japanese. Sumi-e is the art of traditional Japan, which employs the five tones of ink, from pale grey to deepest black, in order to create "a sense of color". It is one of the oldest and respected art forms in the world.

Tchouki offers year-round study in sumi-e, by the day of by the week. Guest room available.

Sumi-e is a wonderful way to develop and understand compstition and design. It is also considered a kind of meditation and therapy. It is a study of the art of ancient Japan, of the history, culture and the philosophy that produced sumi-e.

Sumi-e is a very special way of clearing the mind.
